TweetyJill is proud and excited to announce the beginning of our Blog Design Team! Thank you to these wonderful and talented women for working with us! We are anxious to feature a variety of trendy art and craft projects on our blog every week!
For our first Design Team post, I would like to feature the talented Mendy Mitrani, and a little bit of fabric art! Thank you Mendy! This piece is titled: Women in My Life Scrapbook
Materials:
- Upholstery fabric
- Pom-pom trim
- Assorted acrylic paints
- Scrapbook papers
- Vintage photos of family members
- Vintage cowgirl photo (scanned onto fabric)
- Golden Gel Medium by Golden, Inc.
- Maya Road Chipboard Book
- Colored upholstery thread
- Fabric flower
- Tools: Sponge Brush, Scissors, Tab Punch, Upholstery Needle
Instructions:
- Glue fabric around chipboard book using gel medium and a sponge brush.
- Paint each page of the chipboard book using a variety of colors and allow drying time.
- Adhere various photos to each page.
- Add words, stamps, flowers, ribbons and additional fabric for embellishment.
- Layer and attach fabrics to front of book with fabric adhesive.
- Make tabs from a tab punch using scrapbook papers.
- Write a title on each tab. This artist used adjectives to describe the women pictured in the fabric book, which were all relatives of hers.
- Sew vintage button onto a swatch of velvet and attach velcro to front cover.
- Sew velvet to back of book and velcro to front for a secure close.
Create a fun and whimsical fabric book for a present! This would even make a great Mother’s Day present if the right photos were used.
Creatively Yours,
